Mostly open and flowing. Fast even in the rain :-)These villages as way-points will generate a Tom Tom itinerary: El Bodón, Gata, Pinofranqueado, Miranda del Castañar, Cristóbal, Béjar, Becedas, Navarredonda de Gredos, Navaluenga, El Escorial. Obviously, stay on the main road or you'll end up visiting the center plazas of the villages.

The closer to Madrid, the more traffic. Easily done in half a day.

Two of us joined this route just after Hoyos having ridden from Seia via Penamacor. This was a good fast route with scenery if you have time to look, great bends of all types to keep you busy and when we went a good road surface. We left at the N403 to head into Avila, this is also worth a ride as is Penamacor to Hoyos if you like to be quick.
