This is a route along the west side of lake Como, which avoids the main road down the east which carries most of the traffic. Let’s be clear, you do this ride this route for the sheer ambiance; the views, the smells and the just a feeling of enormous well being!

Starting in Dubino, head west and ride over of the mouth of lake Como, and down the western side. Much of the ride is right on the lakeside and truly majestic it is too! We stopped at Menaggio for lunch- with is a typical Italian lake town. There are plenty of small restaurants on the main square overlooking the lake. Not much not to like here. Just don’t park your bike inside the traffic bollards in front of the square as this is where the tourist train parks and you may upset the driver and the 50 Japanese tourists who are dutifully snapping away.

From Menaggio you can continue down to Como on this road, or head over to Lugano on SP10. If you have been riding the high passes for a few days, this is a really nice change of scenery and pace.
