The road towards Pierre-Cava and Lucéran could be reasonably good. When we did it in 2002, it was not enjoyable. The word unpredictable sums it up. There is a combination of pot holes, good surface and gravel strewn sections. You never know what's around the next bend, except what you hadn't anticipated. A complete resurface required.
L'Escarène could be a decent place to stay; worth a look, but we were only passing through. (Not easy - no road signs)
